Abstract

This research is held at Madrasah Aliyah Al-Fatah Badas Pare Kediri for : (1) to know the background and reasons on Madrasah Aliyah Al-Fatah manager in deciding the Islamic subject as a local content subject; (2) to describe about the adjustment of local-content curriculum with the needs of society in deciding the local-content curriculum; (3) to know and describe about the involvement of society in deciding the local�content curriculum; (4) to evaluate the implementation of local-content curriculum; and (5) to give the formulation of alternative local-content curriculum to Madrasah Aliyah Al-Fatah based on the findings of this study conceptually. The instruments used to collect data in this study are interview with some informants as the subjects to obtain the main data, observation and documentation to gain the data about the instructional activities conducted by the teachers and the planning of local-content curriculum in file. Those data are then described in narration forms. The findings of this study show that in general the region subject, as a local-content subject at Madrasah Aliyah Al-Fatah is appropriate with the needs of society. But, specifically this local-content subject needs to be developed, because the needs of society are changing. Besides, it is found that the found has not been involved yet optimally by madrasah in deciding the local-content curriculum. So the hopes of society are not included yet wholly. In addition, it is found that the implementation of local-content curriculum is not well. So there are some teaching rules which are not performed by the teachers in which the teachers only present the materials related to the religious activities in society without evaluating the success and failure. It is concluded that practically there is a need of religion subjects related to the religious activities in society. The other is the need of subject related to the skillsfor jobs.
