Abstract

This study aims to reveal the relationship between parental educations especially mothers, to children's character with parenting as a mediating variable. Parents in this study focused on mothers because they felt that they were closer to their children both in quality and quantity. The research data were collected from students and guardians of SMPN students in Kediri district and analyzed using path analysis. It can be concluded that the higher the level of education of the parents, especially mothers, the better the parenting style for the child and vice versa. In addition, there is a positive relationship between parenting styles and student character. So that the level of education of parents, especially mothers, through parenting has a direct effect on student character.
