Abstract

One of the typologies of contemporary Arabic thought about tradition and modernization is reformist model. The mind of this typical is reformation by using the new translations, which are more livable and fix on condition. Mohammad Abid al- Jabiry is one of the doers from this typology. He has different mind in giving point for fundamentalist, liberalist and Marxist. According to him, tradition is something attending and beside us, it is coming from your previous time or one previous time, although it happens a long time ago or closer before us. The Islamic liveliness should be opposite from this tradition. The national will not stand on others tradition, but it should stand on their own tradition. Standing on own tradition is not a tradition which doing all of thing inside, but that tradition is human culture product, as science product, which is developing. Because of it, al- Jabiry creates a new project called “al-Naqd al-‘Aqly al-‘Araby” {Kritik Nalar Arab} which consist of al-‘Aql (Nalar) al-Bayany, al-‘Aql ‘Irfany, al-‘Aql al-Burhany and al-‘Aql al-Siyasy. Finally, al-Jabiry offers the method how to read tradition, this method is called al-Qira’ah al- Mu’ashirah, and it consists of Fasl al-Maqru’ ‘an al-Qari’and Wasl al-Qari’ al Maqru’. Kata Kunci : Tradisi, Nalar, Qira’ah.
