Abstract

There are two type of goal orientations, that are mastery goal orientation and performance goal orientation.The characteristic of goal orientations is contradictively. The goal orientations are differenced with a perception to learn, perception to success, and perception to competency. The research of goal orientations show that :1) The goal orientations are influenced with individual factors, that are perception of competency, pattern of motivation, academic interest, and situational factors as class structure, class situation, teachers, and parents, 2) Mastery goal orientation positively relates to adaptive learning, whereas performance goal orientation positively relates to maladaptive learning.
