Abstract
Disaster and accident represent divine verses spelled to human being convincing that God solely owns the supreme power and powerless for human to prevent or interfere. On the other hand, disaster and accident are meant as a scrutiny provided for human being. Scrutiny is given to human being, in this case Indonesian people and some other nations, to shift their extent. A nation, resilient and able to overcome the scrutiny, would be shifted up to higher and more valuable extent before Allah. This is the meaning which is often signalized in religious study concerning disaster and accident. Moreover, Islam explains that various damage, including natural disasters, are also resulted from human conduct. It means natural disaster does not happen suddenly without a cause, yet it is caused by human conduct. Human being becomes the primary factor determining whether nature would be everlasting or destroyed. It depends on human being. When human being views this nature as resources from God for human to keep, which should be managed and taken care of, and human being behaves and acts accordingly, it might be everlasting nature. On the other hand, when human being views this nature as resources that God creates for human to have, which would be treated and exploited, and human being behaves and acts at his own will, it might be more beautiful or destroyed nature.
