Abstract

Abstract: Thinking skills in the 21st century are critical thinking skills. Prospective teacher students are required to learn and develop themselves in order to have good critical thinking skills. Prospective teachers who are able to think critically can teach their students how to think critically. The purpose of this study was to determine students' critical thinking skills on the application of LS-based PBL. The study was conducted at the Postgraduate University of Malang State by using a quantitative descriptive approach and type of classroom action research (CAR) based on Lesson Study (LS) in three cycles. The object of research is the 2018 biology education masters student, class action research course, ABC offering. The data in this study were obtained from tests and non-tests, test data in the form of pre-test and post-test results as well as non-test data in the form of data on the performance of learning by lecturers and model students. Analysis of the data used is quantitative descriptive analysis based on ngain calculations. The normality test shows that the data is normally distributed. The results of the n-gain analysis in the first cycle average n-gain of 0.9 (high category), the second cycle of n-gain average (low category), and the third cycle of n-gain average (high category) ). Data on the implementation of learning by the model lecturers and model students shows that the third cycle has the highest percentage of feasibility. Process improvement in cycle II and cycle III is done by giving jumping tasks and assigning mind maps to students. The results obtained are students' critical thinking skills can be increased in cycle III. Keywords: PBL, critical thinking, PTK-LS
