Abstract

Fostering Women's Character in the Approach of Javanese Cultural Ethics to achieve Civil Society, has a purpose to describe the concepts of fostering women's character and women's morality in Javanese cultural ethics and elaborating wisdom of the role of Javanese cultural women to achieve civil society, by using gualitative research methods and hermeneutic analysis. Based on the theological, anthropological, as well as ecological concepts of women, women are described toll have multiple roles. Besides, being themselves to uphold the morality of Javanese culture ethics that embody the value of virtues, also play a role as a social being for the example of the next generation. Women's competencies need to be developed without discriminating gender with the competencies that men have, because the only difference between men and women is nature. Women have the nature of a person who can menstruate, conceive, give birth and breastfeed which cannot be replaced by a man's position. Fostering the character of female virtues by education and training, as well as and competency development, in order to be able to achieve civil society, cultured society that respects and honor differences for the welfare of the people.
